Hi,

I learned today there is a ubuntu team in Michigan by following the postings on Planet Ubuntu. I like ubuntu and enjoy using it. Have power user experience with it.
I am interested in joining your team, but i cannot find a list of projects you guys are working on currently.
How can I help?

I speak Spanish, some Italian and English obviously. I have a bachelors degree in programming and around 5 years of experience with software development.
I live in Grand Rapids, MI.

Welcome, Jorge! (great... now things get confusing, with two Jorge's)

A lot of what we do is independent work (individuals doing bug triage,
packaging, translations, documentation, etc). We do occasionally
organize group activities such as launch parties, bug jams, and
attendance en-masse to Penguicon or Ohio Linux Festival. We recently
participated in the Global Bug Jam, and posted pretty good numbers. I
think the next thing on the agenda is Penguicon [1] where the deadline
to sign up to make a presentation is either approaching rapidly or
already past. I am repeating my Bug Triage 101 class there. Not sure
what else the group has going on. We hold monthly meetings in IRC
(#ubuntu-us-mi) and just generally hang out there on a daily basis.

The group is also fairly Detroit-centric at this time, although we do
have some members in your area. We'd really like to go dual-core here
and have functions on both sides of the state. Please dive in and help
make that happen. (a-ha! We'll call them Jorge East and Jorge West!)

Forgot to add the footnote for Penguicon:

room soon, before it's booked solid

Ah, another west-sider! There are a couple of us who admit to being in
the Grand Rapids area, and we haven't met yet offline. There are two
other Linux groups that I know of in the area, although ubuntu-us-mi
is the most awesome:
The Grand Rapids Linux User's Group (GRLUG) (http://wiki.grlug.org/)
is really only active on their mailing list right now, but meets once
in a while.
The West Michigan Linux User's Group (WMLUG) (http://www.wmlug.org/)
doesn't have a mailing list, but meets regularly.

Welcome!
