How does one go about installing the Java plugin for Firefox on Ubuntu Lucid?

I visit this one particular URL and get this page:

<quote>
Java Plugin not found.

The minimum Java plugin version required is 1.4.2_01.

Due to a security vulnerability reported with Java plugin versions
prior to 1.4.2_11b01, it is highly recommended that you install Java
plugin version 1.4.2_11b01 or higher.

I've googled for "ubuntu firefox java plugin" and haven't found
anything that looks reasonably current or helpful. I've tried
installing Java, but I still get the error page:

Thanks, Ben. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm missing a repository:

Reading state information... Done

Hi Robert,
I think in Lucid, at least, sun-java6-plugin is in the partners repository.

Thanks, Adam. That seems to have done the trick:

$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin

Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
gsfonts-x11 odbcinst odbcinst1debian1 sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre unixodbc
Suggested packages:
sun-java6-fonts ttf-kochi-gothic ttf-sazanami-gothic
ttf-kochi-mincho ttf-sazanami-mincho ttf-arphic-uming libmyodbc
odbc-postgresql tdsodbc unixodbc-bin
The following NEW packages will be installed:
gsfonts-x11 odbcinst odbcinst1debian1 sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre
sun-java6-plugin unixodbc
0 upgraded, 7 newly installed, 0 to remove and 34 not upgraded.
Need to get 34.4MB of archives.
After this operation, 99.2MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

Unfortunately, the web app still doesn't work. All I get is a blank page. :(

Maybe I need to clean up all the crud I've installed and start over.

Could you share what the page is?

Also, there *is* a java applet plugin in main: icedtea6-plugin

I haven't played with it much other than just now, and to be honest I
would be surprised if you found it better than the sun-java6 version. But
it is worth a try.
