[ubuntu-us-mi] Calling all forum posters

Hello,

First of all, we are applying for Approved status as a LoCo team. In
light of this, I am working on getting our Application polished.

One thing I thought of adding was links to member's profiles on
ubuntuforums.org if they had made any amount of helpful comments. If
you aren't sure if your posts would "count"; just think "have I made
coherent comments in any of the sections that helped someone or aided
the conversation?" If the answer is yes, then add your name to this
page in the section labeled "Contributions to Forum" (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MichiganTeam/ApprovalApplication )

You can get to your forum user page by logging into ubuntuforums.org
and clicking on "User CP" (near the top) and selecting "My Profile."
Using your real name is optional, you can just use your nickname if
you wish.

Also, any suggestions on
formating/wording/omissions/additions/whatever on the application is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for making this approval process a possibility.

So should some of the rest of us (like me) get busy and make helpful posts?

I think it would be great if we all, at least once per week, did a
search for "unanswered posts" on the forums to help folks out. I used
to do that, but I've been lax about it lately.

In general, yes, of course go post.

I'm not going to crack the whip and say "EVERYONE DO 5 POSTS PER DAY!"
But, if you want to find an easy way to contribute, this is one of
those ways.

Howdy!

Greg, if you are looking to get Approved Status, you should contact
Vorian (Stephen Stalcup), leader of the Ohio LoCo. He did a great job
getting approval, and he might be able to give you some pointers to look
out for.

Anthony,

Yeah, Vorian was one of the people who had been poking me to do it. :)

Should we list other contributions to the community as well? For
example, I'm one of the editors for Debian Package of the Day (which
covers Ubuntu, too... it's part of Planet Ubuntu)

For that one, maybe not. Really, the only reason I suggested we do the
ubuntuforums one is because I saw another team use it on their application.
But I think we should stay away from things that members have done
separately from the LoCo team. Just because this is a Team approval
application.

It is a very fine line though. I would think a list of members who are
active on the forum is good because that shows we are active there helping.
But, where do we stop with showing our activity? Would we need to list
everyone's blog?

So, I think for now, since I have already gotten good feedback from people
on it, we should just stick with what we got.

Thanks for the suggestion though Wolfger, and keep up the good work with
DPOTD
