The Ubuntu Global Jam is coming up. Time to start planning where we'll be
holding ours.

The two usual places are:
* Clinton-Macomb Public Library
* SRT Solutions

And we usually do it on the Saturday (so, August 28th) in the afternoon
(1-5ish) as that is most flexible for the most number of people.

I personally prefer SRT Solutions because A) Jay can just get us in
without worrying about library card holders, B) good wifi, C) a projector
already set up, D) close to restuarants/bars for after Jam festivities.

However, I'm not set on a place, so if you have an idea of a place that
you think is better, please let me know.

Also, I would love to see something out on the West Coast as well :)

Best,

Greg

? also known as Ubuntu Global Jam is coming up swiftly, so make sure you
put 27th-29th August into your calendar and talk your local Ubuntu
friends into participating.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGlobalJam
Ok, so it?s Ubuntu Global Jam. What does that mean? What?s going to happen?
Simple. It?s going to happen what you make happen. Whatever your team
enjoys doing is great. The only requirements are: it needs to be fun and
it should make Ubuntu better somehow.
Ok. What does that mean?
We had loads of different jams around the world already: events where
people get together locally and make Ubutnu better by working on bugs,
packaging, translations, documentation, testing, upgrading or whatever
else they enjoy doing.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Jams
In the past we had events all around the globe, where new friends met
for the first time, people learned from each other, people from other
open source projects were invited and where everybody (most importantly)
had a fantastic time.
If your LoCo team already knows when and where it?s going to happen, add
the event to the LoCo Directory. We set up the event on loco.ubuntu.com
already.
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/global/195/detail/
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Jams has lots of information on how to to
organise the event properly, and what kind of preparation your team
mates should look into depending on what your team wants to do. Stay
tuned for tuition sessions where you can ask all your questions. A good
place for getting that information is of course loco-contacts or the
ubuntu-event-planners mailing list.
If you're part of a LoCo team, please bring it up with your team, talk
to them, find out what they like, meet and make Ubuntu rock even harder.
Have a great day,
Daniel

Location doesn't matter to me... I plan to be up in/near Oscoda

If you move it to Sunday, I prefer CMPL, but not for any unselfish reason. :-)

If you move it to Sunday, I prefer CMPL, but not for any unselfish reason. :-)
CMPL is closed on Sundays during the summer. I think they don't restart
sunday hours until after school starts.

I'm open to either, though my preference is the library, but purely for
selfish reasons. :)

OK, so I obviously dropped the ball on this one. Sorry all!
<insert some lame excuse about work, life, vacation, etc>

So, Ubuntu Party Weekend, also known as Ubuntu Global Jam, is August
27th-29th.

I say given that:
A) That weekend is fast approaching,
B) I will be out of town/offline all next week,
... we should make this simple... with a DOODLE POLL!

Please go here and indicate whether or not you will attend the
date/location. Clinton-Macomb is a northern suburb of Detroit and SRT
Solutions is in Ann Arbor:
http://doodle.com/9d82smxtdmvv6dhw (assume Noon-5pm for all options)

The date/location with the most green will win. The cut off will next
Sunday (the 22nd) so we have a few days to line things up.

Go forth and vote!

Reminder: The Global Jam is about getting together and helping make the
next Ubuntu release the best it can be. This can involve testing the new
release on your hardware, reporting/triaging bugs for your hardware or
software you use, or testing ISOs (disk images). Also, getting together
with awesome Ubuntu Michigan people is never short of fun, especially at
the after-Jam party.

Best,

Greg

Just a quick reminder that the CMPL is closed on Sundays so it's not
available to us on Sunday (until after Labor day).

Also, I'll start the ball rolling on getting the CMPL reserved for
Saturday in the event that we pick that day.

I got the room reserved at the CMPL on the off-chance that we'll want to
use it. It's reserved from 12:30pm - 5pm on Saturday.

LMK if we decide to do this elsewhere so I can cancel the reservation,
or I'll be in a world of hurt with the librarians. :)

The votes have been counted!

It was a dead tie between Saturday at SRT and Sunday at SRT. So I did the
most scientific thing I could think of: a coin toss. Heads for Sat. and
tails for Sun. It came up heads.

So, plan on heading to SRT Solutions in Ann Arbor on Saturday the 28th
(THIS Saturday) from Noon to 5pm.

PLEASE RSVP: http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/321/detail/

Come with your laptop, powercord, and flash drives if you have them so we
can do some test installs. And of course any other cool gadget that you
want to talk about with the group.

On the agenda:
* Bug work (reporting, triage, and submitting patches)
* Pre-Release testing
* Using Stackexchange/Shapado/Launchpad Answers
* your burning question
* other things we think of

Again, please RSVP here:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/321/detail/

Hope to see you there!
